About

THE RANCH

The Grady Groves Ranch is part of a much larger ranch belonging to our family for more than a hundred years. Our family settled in this part of Texas and 1875 and have been living in ranching cattle in this area since then. Located 9 miles north of Lampasas some of the most beautiful country in Central texas. There is much wildlife including whitetail deer, coyote and fox, local birds as well as some cattle that still graze on the land.

Tranquil

Distanced from the noise of the city, this land has been left untouched for years, and as such, is home to many local wildlife. The ranch is a sanctuary for all who visit, and the peaceful, rolling landscape provides a great backdrop for a myriad of outdoor activities.

Nosey Neighbors

Cattle still graze parts of the ranch, and while they may be curious of the happenings during the eclipse, they are well-contained and will not be able to join your campsite without a personal invitation.

2024 Eclipse Path

An eclipse totality, when the moon “completely” covers the sun, occurs at best only in a narrow track on the surface of Earth. The track for the 2024 eclipse perfectly strikes through Lampasas, according to NASA researchers, while missing larger cities like Waco, Killeen, Austin and San Antonio. On April 8, 2024, the maximum duration of totality will last as long as 4 minutes and 26 seconds, mostly over southwest Texas, including Lampasas. That's 135 seconds longer than the U.S. average and 40% longer than the maximum duration of the 2017 eclipse.
